Below are some of the common questions customers have about microblading. Learn how to prepare for your procedure, what to expect from microblading and how to take care of your eyebrows after.
What is PhiBrows and how is it different from general microblading?
Phibrow Artists are industry leaders who create high-quality work. A Phibrows Master spends years demonstrating their attention to detail and requires intense dedication and talent that is uncommon in the industry. Most academies offer a 1-2 day course and sometimes do not allow students to work on models or receive one-on-one instruction from a master. Phibrows academy however, allows students to practice on models and is a very long, strict, and thorough program that produces the best eyebrow artists in the world.

What is the procedure, and how should I prepare?
The microblading procedure is carried out using a blade made up of micro-needles. The artist uses ink to match the colour of the hair, and the ink is sliced into the skin's superficial layers. The artist uses hair-like strokes to create a fuller, more natural brow design. Microblading pre-treatment instructions include: Caffeine should be avoided on the day of the procedure. Avoid alcoholic beverages for 48 hours before the procedure. For 7 days before the procedure, avoid taking Aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Ibuprofen, or any other pain reliever. Tweezing or waxing should be done at least 48 hours before the procedure. For one week before the procedure, avoid exposing the areas to be treated to the sun or tanning beds. Fillers should be performed 6 weeks before or 6 weeks after your scheduled procedure. Arrive with a clean, dry face that is free of all products and makeup. Before starting or stopping any medication, consult with your doctor. It is not advised to have a tan or burn on your face at the time of the procedure. 5 days before the procedure, avoid brow tinting. Facial injections should be performed either two months before or one month after your scheduled procedure.
What should I do following the procedure?
Your brow artist will go over specific microblading aftercare instructions with you after your procedure. Here's a rundown of some of the microblading care instructions you'll get: Tylenol can be used to relieve minor pain. To reduce swelling on the day of your procedure, apply small ice packs for no more than 20 minutes. You will also be given cleaning instructions in the days following the procedure. For 10 days, avoid using water, cleansers, creams, make-up, or any other products on the procedure area. For the next four weeks, avoid using products containing fragrances or harsh chemicals, peroxide, wrinkle and acne creams, or glycolic acids. DO NOT USE antibacterial/antibiotic ointments such as Neosporin. Under no circumstances should you scrub, scratch, or pick treated areas. AVOID sun exposure, tanning beds, facials, sweating, swimming, whirlpools, and strenuous activity for at least 14 days after the procedure. AVOID sleeping on your face. KEEP ALL PETS AWAY FROM TREATED AREA UNTIL COMPLETELY HEALTHY. FOLLOW ALL AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS.
What is the timetable for brow healing?
Days 1 and 2: The brows are approximately 20 to 25% darker and wider than they will be when healed. Because your skin is red beneath the pigment, the colour of the pigment appears darker. There is some swelling, though it is difficult to see due to the thickness of the skin in the brow area. This will pass. Exfoliation, which will begin in a few days, will cause excess pigment surrounding the brow procedure to flake away, resulting in a narrower appearance. New skin will grow over the pigmented area, giving your brows a softer appearance. Don't be concerned if your brows appear darker and larger than desired at first. All of this is a part of the process. Day 3: The brows begin to itch and become thicker in texture. Exfoliation starts. Begin by applying a thin layer of the provided ointment. Day 4: The skin starts flaking and peeling around the edges first. Day 5: The colour has finished flaking off and will appear softer and grayer for a few days until it clears. Color may appear to fade during the healing process on days 7-10. Day 11-20: Color will emerge and refine during the final stages of healing. NOTE: The colour intensity of your procedure may be significantly sharper, brighter, or darker than expected for the final result. This transition will take time, depending on how quickly your skin's outer layer exfoliates. Because skin is delicate, sensitive areas may swell or redden for 1-3 days. The canvas (your skin) on which semi-permanent makeup procedures are performed has an impact. If your skin is sun damaged (even from tanning beds), has thick and uneven textures, and/or is excessively dry or oily, the initial procedure cannot be expected to produce perfect results. Fading is caused by a variety of factors, including lifestyle, medications, smoking, metabolism, facial surgery, and skin age. Color refreshers are occasionally required to achieve the best results and keep your semi-permanent makeup looking its best.
Is microblading the same as tattooing?
No, microblading isn't the same as permanent tattooing. You will look and feel fine after the session; your brows will be slightly red and/or swollen, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Does microblading hurt?
The pain varies from person to person, but in general, yes, a little. Rest assured that microblading is safe, and the pain is usually mild, with most people describing it as irritating and itchy.
What happens to my skin during the microblading procedure?
When we look closely at the microblading procedure, we notice three distinct phases: the design phase, the blading phase, and the fine-touching phase. We will design your perfect brows during the first phase of microblading. This means that we'll use special tools to measure the various parts of your brow-line as well as your facial features before drawing the 'new brows' on your skin. When you've seen and approved the design, we'll recommend pigments that best match the colour of your skin and hair. We use a special blade during the blading phase that actually consists of 11-14 tiny blades that slice the pigment into the surface layers of your skin. During the fine-touching phase, we apply various calming creams to your skin and inform you of what will happen in the coming days. This is when you will be given microblading aftercare instructions so that you are fully prepared to deal with your new look and take the best care of your new brows.
What kind of pigments are used?
The quality of materials used, as with all services in the beauty industry, determines the end result to a large extent. For our microblading services, we only use high-quality pigments. The pigments are completely vegan and do not contain any metals. Is microblading a permanent procedure? No, because the ink dissolves into your skin over time, the process is semi-permanent. Our high-quality pigments retain their natural colour over time and do not cause major irritations.
